2026 MCRSC Bomb/Parachute Drop Contest

After a 2-week delay due to rain, the 20th Annual MCRCS Bomb/Parachute Drop Contest took place on October 25th.   It turned out to be a spectacular flying day with sunny weather, blue cloud-free skies and highs reaching the mid 60’s.  It was cold at the start with some frost on the ground which quickly burned off.  There were no noticeable winds which made a dream flying day.  We had a good turnout with 9 entrants in the bomb drop and 4 entrants in the Parachute Drop.  Carl Tindall with his Timber took first place in the bomb drop (10 Points) and Carl Gubkin took first in the Parachute Drop (5 Points).  This makes two years in a row that Carl Tindall won the Bomb Drop Contest.  We had a good number of non-participating members watching on as well as non-contest flying.  This year’s contest had two pilots show us again what happens when you watch your bombs fall instead of your plane.  The event also included delays for horses, hunting dogs and riders with whips on the field.  It should be noted that Muhammad was a big help in retrieving bombs and parachutes.

Later we held our breath when Brian B. retrieved a plane in a nearby tree.  Those watching made sure that we had the local emergency access contacts.

We need to thank Irwin for getting the food, and Brian B. for setting up the lunch.  Muhammad was our chef and prepared two kinds of tasty soup, mouthwatering bbq chicken along with the usual hamburgers and hotdogs.  It just made for an incredible flying day!
